Lead Carpenter/ Foreman

An established Seattle construction company is seeking a Lead Carpenter/ Foreman for high-end custom residential projects. Projects are primarily located in Seattle and on Bainbridge Island/Kitsap County. 


JOB DESCRIPTION:


The Lead Carpenter/ Foreman will act as the day-to-day job supervisor responsible for directing and verifying that tasks assigned to carpenters, laborers, and subcontractors are successfully completed. The Carpenter/ Foreman work directly with Project Managers and crew to execute specific custom home remodel projects.
Applicants should have experience supervising job projects from start to finish, lead by example, and be able to develop a strong rapport with clients, subcontractors, crew members, and project managers. Carpenter/Foreman will communicate project needs to material suppliers, project managers and craftsmen.

Duties will vary depending on the size and complexity of a project. On smaller projects with less managerial load you will be expected to use your tools to produce great work. On larger projects that demand supervision and coordination you will be expected to use your computer skills and creativity to manage a smooth, efficient process resulting in a rewarding, top quality project.

Candidates must be extremely reliable and knowledgeable in how to organize and coordinate the various aspects of residential construction activities to ensure that projects are produced to the highest standard of quality craftsmanship, conformance with plans and specifications, on-time, and within the given budget.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works independently or with crews at various job sites throughout Seattle Area
  • Willing to work on various job sites simultaneously depending on job loads.
  • Able to read, interpret and understand plans and specifications for each project.
  • Interfaces directly with the Construction Manager and/ or Superintendent to coordinate schedules, carry out work orders, and adjust timelines.
  • Manages assigned laborers and carpenters in approved critical path of construction.
  • Recognize and correct hazards, including acting as the competent person, and shutting down imminent hazard work operations.
  • Develop material needs; track, inspect, and verify quantity and quality of materials and supplies.
  • Acts as a liaison between subcontractor tradesmen and construction manager.
  • Supervising quality control.
  • General instruction and periodic review of journeyman and apprentices.
  • Is responsible for daily log reports, time-cards and other records including photos and video logs.
  • Performs construction tasks as needed including frame to finish, using materials such as: wood, steel, metal, concrete, plastics, and composites of multiple materials.
  • Conduct all carpentry tasks to the highest possible standard.
  • Works on various projects at different job sites with project values ranging from $250K to $4M.
  • Maintains an extremely neat, protected and organized work area on the job sites and in the company warehouse.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS: 
We are looking for candidates who can meet many of the qualifications listed here:

  • MUST be able to read blueprint and specification plans.
  • MUST have a Driver's License and reliable transportation.
  • MUST be able to pass a criminal background check and possess verifiable references.
  • MUST have Documentation of legal eligibility to work in the USA.
  • MUST have the ability to resolve problems with appropriate and timely decisions.
  • MUST own complete set of carpenter tools for laying out and building a finish product.
  • Is independent and able to carry out daily tasks on time ensuring safe work practices and procedures are followed.
  • Has knowledge of best construction materials and tools, practices and procedures, understands the critical path of construction.
  • Is able to speak and write in English fluently.

  • Knowledge of the applications found in Microsoft Office Suite of programs.
  • An ability to familiarize themselves with new construction methods and train others once a new skill is acquired.

Salary: $35.00 to $45.00 /hour plus:
